Ball and socket
This is the correct answer. The hip joint, also termed the femoroacetabular joint, is a synovial ball and socket joint. It is formed by the articulation of the head of the femur with the acetabulum of the pelvis. The pelvic acetabulum is formed by the union of the ilium, ischium and pubis, the three bones that compose the pelvic bone. The hip joint is a ball and socket joint, an example of a synovial joint. Here, many types of movement are permitted including: flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, medial and lateral rotation, and combinatory circumduction. Other types of synovial joint include plane, hinge, pivot, saddle and, ellipsoid.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

14,11

post-1172","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-anatomy","category-question-bank

Which type of synovial joint is the hip joint? - Student Hub EN

<meta name="description" content="Boost your knowledge of synovial joint with our sample question bank.
